Frequently asked about First Aid & Travel
What should every Kenyan home first-aid kit contain?
A practical Kenyan home kit covers: paracetamol and ibuprofen for pain/fever; oral rehydration salts; antiseptic (Dettol or povidone-iodine); plasters and bandages; tweezers; thermometer; antihistamine tablets for allergic reactions; and burn relief gel. Add an asthma inhaler or EpiPen if anyone in the family needs one.
What do I need for travel in Kenya — coast, safari, highlands?
For coastal and safari travel pack: anti-malarial prophylaxis (if your doctor advises), insect repellent (DEET), broad-spectrum sunscreen, motion-sickness tablets, oral rehydration salts and basic wound care. For highland travel, add diamox if altitude has affected you before, and lozenges for dry-air cough.
Do I need a prescription for anti-malarials in Kenya?
Some anti-malarials (artemether-lumefantrine for treatment) are pharmacist-dispensed, while others (mefloquine, doxycycline used as prophylaxis) require a prescription. Our pharmacist will confirm what you need based on your destination and personal risk before dispatch.
When should I see a doctor instead of treating at home?
Visit a clinic for: a wound that won't stop bleeding, a deep or contaminated cut, signs of infection (spreading redness, pus, fever), a burn larger than your palm or on the face/hands, sustained vomiting/diarrhoea in a child, suspected fractures, or chest pain. When in doubt, WhatsApp our pharmacist for triage.
Can you deliver first-aid supplies same day in Nairobi?
Yes — within Nairobi we dispatch same day via Uber/Bolt during business hours (Mon–Sat 8am–7pm, Sun & Public Holidays 11am–6pm). Outside Nairobi, delivery is 1–3 business days via trusted courier partners.
